Normalization in Cakung Lama River that crosses six urban villages and three sub-districts in North Jakarta had to be postponed after people in the riverbank relocated to flats.

North Jakarta Water Resources Sub-dept. Head, Herning Wahyuningsih said, in Cipinang Lama River, there are thousands of citizen settlements stood atop the riverbank. Due to this condition, her sub-dept. cannot normalize the river as wide as 20 meters and dredge up to 15 meters depth.
Several Areas Flooded by Cakung Lama River"We cannot do normalization before relocation plan to the flat is done," she stated, Monday (2/20).
She expressed, until now, inundation points in North Jakarta have begun to diminish in line with the incessant normalization toward connecting channels (PHB), rivers and drains.
Some inundation points that are still exist such as Jalan RE Martadinata, precisely in front of Tanjung Priok Harbor's Gate III and settlement on Cakung Lama riverbank.
"Cakung Lama River has narrowed from 20 meters becomes 3-5 meters width," he disclosed.
